The Importance of Theology when Church Planting

by Jason Robertson

Most of the time when church planters are first thinking about "how to plant a church" they begin by studying all the different models of church planting. They read many books and go to many seminars looking for which model seems most relevant to their demographic. From there, the church planter will begin to design his philosophy of ministry, the style of worship to be used, and the theological message he wishes to communicate.

But I believe that one's theology will dictate one's church model, not the other way around. Tim Keller is right, in the clip above, that everything we do in church planting is based on our theology. Theology guides your "doing church."

Boy, knowing your theology anytime is so crucial! Mankind loves to make up laws and works for his own self-righteous comfort.
