Shepherds Conference Bound

Jason and I will be attending the Shepherds Conference this year at Grace Community Church. This will be our 5th year to attend, and we look forward to it every year. This year about 10 of our men are going so we hope Phil really studies hard. We have bragged on him so if he let's us down we will lose face and have to move back to the South, but no pressure Phil.
Anyway, we think this might be a great opportunity to meet some of our fellow bloggers. If you are attending the conference this year let us know in the comments. Tim Challies is going and I look forward to meeting him. Jason and I will not be wearing leather, chains, or tatoos so dont' try and spot us that way. I hear we are recieving 28 books this year, but noone has heard yet what the gift will be.
There are a lot of new seminars this year and some of the more popular old ones. If this is your first year we can also give you a heads up on who some of the more interesting speakers are. Although that will have to be through email. I don't want some of the staff to find out we thought they were a little dull.

19 Spoke Up:
Guys,
The pastor of the church I attend is going to be there. His name is Dustin Segars.
Our website is www.sfofgso.org . If you go there and look to the left, you'll see his picture in the background.
Y'all look after him for us, okay.
Scott,
I will be attending the conference for the first time this year along with another young preacher boy from our church. If you are anything like Bret I would definitely enjoy meeting you.
Mike, I would have to say Bret is one of my favorite people. As far as anything like Bret. You will have to decide that for yourself. I think Bret is probably more refined.
Listen, I certainly want to meet you boys sometime. I missed you when you were here at GTY. You being all celebrity heroes and all, I would be thrilled to pieces to just shake your all's hand. Seriously.
I know I am going to try to make it to Phil's message on Fundamentalism part 2, so maybe I can see you all there.
Fred
You guys have a great time out there - We seriously considered making the trip this year, but had to back out. Be sure to give a report when you get back.
Mike
Will you being wearing the studded dog collars for easy identification? And what cool, FREE gifts are you giving out? Fide-O logo bumper stickers or something I hope. Anyway, I will be there and hope to meet you both. I already know Bret, and agree--he's alright.
I'm poor, work 50 hours a week, and live on the other side of the country, so could you just send me any of those 28 books that you don't want?
BTW, Thanks for the link. It is an honor to be included in the Fide-O 'Dogpound'.
Hey Scott, we are looking forward to seeing you guys--and is Bret bringing his lovely wife?
Dox, email me your address and I will send you a book.
Fred, I will be in the Fundamentalism session.
I'll be there too guys, and will also be in the 'fighten fundies' session. I'd love to meet the Dawgs (provided that they don't bite). How can I find you?
I plan to be at the Conference Wednesday night thru Thursday night. I would love to meet all of you on Thursday. Maybe we can sit together at Lunch on Thursday
i'll be attending my third shepherd's conference this year. bringing a guy along for his first sc. i've recently discovered "blogging/bloggers", so i'm looking forward to meeting those of you that will be attending as well.
i'll be easy to spot...i'm the chubby guy with glasses.
Jason -
It'd be good to grab a cup of coffee and get caught up...
Jerry
Scott,
I'ze jes' kiddin. Amazon is keeping me well stocked on books. I've ordered about 15 in the past three weeks.
I'm planning on going to a Used Bookstore in Knoxville this weekend as well. They usually have some old treasures that are in good condition.
My brother was there Thursday and bought several church history books for nearly nothing.
Maybe he could send a couple of them to the Cantankerous Caners.
I'll be there! I'll probably be the "token" layman, but I won't let that intimidate me.
I'm planning on attending the "Fundie" session as well.
Lunch with the Dog Pound on Thursday sounds great...count me in! Where?
Mike,
There are a lot of laymen attending also. Many of the guys from my church attend each year. I live just down thes treet, but I can't make it, my schedule is too insane.
Besides, it's usually packed and I'd just as soon leave some space for guys who can't make it out here that often. ;-)
Mike we are taking 6 laymen from our church.
Sweet! What lucky "laymen" you have!
When I signed up for this event I was part of a group of men (8 of us out of about a 1,500 member church) hand-picked by the elders/pastors of my church for a year-long mentoring program designed to test our metal for potential deacon, elder, pastor, and missionary roles. Our senior pastor was our teacher.
Long story short...
Most everyone in this discipleship group was familiar with John MacArthur (yeah hoo) but nobody was hip to his "way" of doing things (boo hoo). So, needless to say, nobody wanted to come with me to the Shepherd's Conference. One guy even sort of made fun of his own days as a MacArthur-ite as if he now had sort of grown up and out of it. I was basically labeled as a young (I was the youngest guy in the group at 29) overzealous Calvinist that would soon settle down...and stop talking about all this reformed theology stuff!
Another long story short...
I took my wife and two young girls and now attend a tiny Reformed Baptist church pastored by Bruce Ray...recommended by none other than the PyroManiac himself.
I'm looking forward to lunch on the campus of GCC with you guys. Where can I meet up with you? Will you or Jason be wearing rottweiler masks?
